Mass is a communication design group in flux: Define, shape, build, and invent. Brands, digital products, experiences, and ventures.
Stephan Valter is the principal of Mass. Trained at the multi-disciplinary State Academy of Art and Design in Stuttgart, Germany, he opened his own design practice in New York. The german-french designer started creating brand identities, packaging and consumer experiences for companies like Exxon, Coca-Cola, LVMH, and Diageo, before moving into digital design and technology.
Valter's design thinking is interdisciplinary and rooted in his mutations into new areas: experiences and technoloy, user interface and digital product design, animation and video, furniture and exhibition design. He is the co-founder of startup Nomi, a Smart Packaging and Internet-of-Things invention.
With Nomi, a smart packaging system for healthcare, Valter invented the remote tracking of consumption, a new data category with real-time metrics, analytics, and infinite marketing potential.
Mass designs the undesigned, the unidentified, the underperforming. Identity, products, packaging, smart retail, apps, UX, CX, BX, pill bottles, icons, furniture, night life products, animation, event design, brand language, advertising, video.
